The PLA spent four years on the LAC to go back to the points where it started from. What did it achieve? In my opinion – DEFEAT. I have elucidated it in this video. The events of the past four years have been examined against the background of China’s historical actions in Korea, India(62), Vietnam, South China Sea, Hong Kong and its various discourses on India. China started out in 2020 to enforce a unilateral border solution by force and teach India a lesson. It then switched to using the LAC as a pressure point and ensure that India remains focussed there. Having failed to do so it now seeks accommodation with India to tackle the USA as also come out of its internal mess. This is a strategic defeat if there was ever one. It will do well for all of us to remember that war is politics by other means. In China, where every move is political by nature, the step back on the LAC is a great political defeat. India needs to appreciate what it has done and be prepared to deal with what China will come up with next.
