Mr Tahir Gora and I had a freewheeling discussion on Pakistan in the light of the current situation obtaining there. Being a close observer of Pakistan, he has a fairly clear idea of what is going on there. We covered a lot of ground. What emerged was that there is no ‘spring’ in Pakistan . It is a pure power struggle. The Army is too entrenched. Imran Khan does not have the bandwidth to bring about change. All he wants is power. Irrespective of who comes to power Pakistan won’t change. Further, as a battle ground state , it can never normalise. India will have to deal with a failed state for a long time to come.
