Proposed Rocket Force

With the impending entry of Pralay, there have been reports of formulating a ‘Rocket Force’ . These are some of my views on the proposal which is in the air. These are early days and there is a long way to go. This short video gives you an idea of the issues involved.

  1. Very well covered in simple terms. A rocket force has many components which you have covered very well. More than the vector and its range & warhead destructive potential, it’s the ability to acquire, designate and precision guide munitions on to the target that are more crucial. Having correctly opined that sarkari organisations like DRDO have reached dead ends, I hope that the Army is encouraging and funding research going on in academia and in start ups. Otherwise we will be aping our Western neighbour who has the bumb yet talks of using it within its own territory to defeat the attacker. Idiots roam city streets with modified cycles and motor bikes made up to look like planes, bumbs, missiles etc whipping up jingoistic fervour. That is no substitute for hard nosed appreciations and showcasing intent should anyone dare to trespass into own territory. Merely having fancy names for ordnance will not translate into capabilities.

    1. Sir,
It is not so much about raising a force, but about beating the en. The problem is we plan to fight a superior en but we are trying to engage in a race which will be counterproductive. The mirroring of concepts and ideas will only push us further in the hole. We need to plan to fight our war with China and not fight in his designed arena. If we have identified the en, his str and weakness then we need to plan to to target his weakness. China has adopted USAs modernisation ways but with the Chinese colour. I think we too should move in this way in a cautious manner. Hence, I tend to agree with you.
