A NEW WEBSITE FOR 'GUNNERS SHOT'

In 2019, one of my articles was rejected by a leading news portal. The editor felt that it was not worth. That was when I decided to start my own blog and called it ‘Gunners Shot‘. Initially the response was low…typical…if there were 50-views per day on the blog…it was celebration time. As things evolved, viewership has increased. After more than 400 posts, the viewership is to shortly hit the 2 million mark spanning 25 countries. As I wrote more, my knowledge increased and so did the scope of my articles. As my confidence increased the subjects have also expanded.

Of late I have been getting requests for articles / references on specific subjects on which I had written. I found that I could not give any answer other than – “please search my blog“. The blog was not well catalogued and one could not pick an article easily from it. That was when I decided to catalogue the articles and video presentations in some cogent manner and put it in a website which readers and researchers can zoom into based on their interests. Most of my articles and posts are researched reasonably well with embedded links and references. It will help students of strategic affairs, international relations and defence matters in forming their own ideas.

How does one build a website? I asked my son. He directed me to https://sites.google.com/new and asked me to fiddle around and get back to him when I got stuck…so I fiddled … and this is the output… I designed and built this website myself from first principles. It was a great past time and fun for a 65 year old veteran…of course my son helped me with finer details which were beyond me.

The website supports the blog. I will continue to publish articles on the Gunners Shot blog @ www.gunnersshot.com and simultaneously also catalogue them in the Gunners Shot website @ www.gunnershoot.com.

I wish you happy browsing of the website…any suggestions are welcome…any time

Bets wishes

  1. Salutes Lt. General Ravi Shankar. Sir I have been following your articles on the blog. I also listen to your discussions. I feel ecstatic by the simple logic you always put forth whatever the topic may be. Retirement from job but the work you have been putting with such energy and enthusiasm is highly inspiring. I wish you all the best and look forward to reading your articles and listening to your discussions.

  2. Bravo Ravi! As a son of a now deceased IAF person, many of whose friends served in the forces, I do read your view with some interest and appreciation.
Among my cohort, one would be senior to you by a couple of batches, three stars in Ordy and another a few batches junior to you and still serving in the Mountain Corps.

It is good to see you emerge as an analyst and commentator
