Good intelligence is a pre-requisite not only to prosecute wars but also to prevent them. This is an area which India has found to be lacking. Presently intelligence can be gathered from multiple sources and is widely available. Increasingly int collection and analysis is technology driven. It is a very specialised and sophisticated field where specific areas can be targeted. It has also become commercialised and is increasingly being corporatised. In this scenario, Lt Gen D P Pandey (R) examines if the Armed Forces can adopt a PPP model and take to corporatisation of intelligence through its think tanks.
