Lt Gen Raj Shukla and I had a discussion on something India needs to think of very seriously. How to deter China from coming back as it has always done after a step back. India needs to put in place a fail safe layered deterrence mechanism based on persistent surveillance, guaranteeing simultaneous adversity , narrowing capacity differentials and focusing on chinks in the Chinese armour. Also do not lose focus on Pakistan and its increasing collusivity with the Chinese. There needs to be a greater debate on this issue to safeguard our rise, which is at the risk of being undermined.
