RARE EARTHS IN INDIA AND ESCAPING CHINA’S RARE EARTH TRAP

China has weaponised its rare earth dominance. In this context it is necessary to take stock of India’s state of rare earth materials and development in the value chain. It is also necessary to examine as to how India can get out of the rare earth trap. The examination tells us that there are many things India can do to escape China’s trap. It has adequate rare earths but has to take steps to valorise the value chain. The next story which comes out is that China’s rise in the EV sector has a link to Myanmar’s civil war .
