This is a SWOT analysis of USA and China from a ‘trade war’ perspective. As this war widens, will it take military proportions? The SWOT table will then change. As it stands, USA has the initiative and China is on the back foot. It has more to lose economically. The trade war has greater ramifications for China internally. That is to be seen yet, but will emerge. China’s Achilles heel remains its inability to consume its own produce. The chances for China to turn into a consuming economy are poor. The reason is simple. People need to be rich to consume. China is a rich state with poor people. The CCP can not afford the people to be rich. They will go out of power.
