Brig Arun Sahgal (R) outlines India’s Dual Strategy of military deterrence and diplomatic de-escalation. India has built up along the LAC to close the gap with China in terms of infrastructure and hard military power. Any misadventure by the Chinese will result in a pro quid quo situation where they might end up losing territory after a bruising skirmish. Further India has taken adequate steps diplomatically to de-escalate the situation in a direct 1 to 1 dialogue as also given enough signals through its wider international diplomacy to China that it is prepared to engage with it on equal terms.
