Will Baluchistan secede? There is a probability. The state of affairs in Baluchistan is pretty severe. The Pakistan Army does not control the Night! The writ is the state does not extend to all parts of the province. A sure sign of major problems. However w/o the province, Pakistan itself will not survive. The Pakistan Army will therefore not allow secession of Baluchistan if it can. Add the Chinese interests there and the picture is very complicated. Secession of Baluchistan is not probably not imminent if all issues are taken into account. But is not far either. As the people of Balochistan continue to be robbed, exploited, and looted besides being murdered the situation will only get worse. They have no love lost for the ‘Punjabi’ dominated Pakistan. They seek freedom, have now organised themselves and are more sophisticated in their approach with youth spearheading the freedom struggle. If the Baloch people get outside ‘moral’ support, secession of the province will happen. India needs to step up to the task from a humanitarian, democratic and geopolitical point of view. It must extend the same support to the Baloch people which the Pakistani state is extending to the ‘Kashmir’ cause. That is the minimum and it is in India’s interests to do so. India cannot sit back.
