The good thing about the meeting in Riyadh was that USA and Russia started speaking about ending the Ukraine war. However the US team appeared to be focussed on achieving a ceasefire and Russia was seeking a larger settlement with a maximalist position. USA also seems to be putting the cart before the horse by giving too many concessions to Russia even before the negotiations. The EU and Ukrainians were miffed at being left out. In this program Mr Sree Iyer and I examined various facets of this war from the perspective of all participants and stake holders. From what it appears this useless war with grave consequences is not likely to end in a hurry. However these are initial days.
