Manipur is at present the weakest link in India. We need to strengthen it. The imposition of the President’s Rule provides an opportunity to restore some degree of normalcy in the state and get it back on track. To do that we need to get back to basics. There is a need to throw demons out of heads and approach the problem with simplicity. It involves alleviation of peoples suffering and creation of opportunities for them for a better life. It also involves letting go of greedy and divisive political aspirations. It needs a de novo approach which is basically an old tried and trusted one. In my opinion India must devote more time to restoring normalcy in Manipur rather than wasting time on developing better relations with USA.
