USA is changing with a lot of internal churn and Trump’s transactional approach. Its approach and attitude to global affairs is changing very significantly. The three ongoing conflicts in Ukraine, West Asia and Western Pacific will however continue to fester despite whatever Trump says or does. India will do well to re-evaluate its options and keep its mind open. We need to be on our own if we are to retain our strategic autonomy. As USA’s attitude towards China is changing, India must also re-calibrate what it can expect in the Indo Pacific construct and India-US strategic partnership. India US defence cooperation will be put to test. Need to break our mindsets. Business is not as usual.
