Recently, the President was the chief guest at the 76th Republic Day. The vibes between India and Indonesia are good as explained by Mr Gurjit Singh, our former ambassador to Indonesia. He however points out that while socio culturally we have made some progress, we have not developed economic or defence ties as needed. More can and should have been done. While there is a realisation about this, the question at hand is that will the GOI and our private sector get its act together? If we are to a regional / global player, we need to convert the India Indonesia relations from Kuch Kuch Hota Hai to Bahut Kuch Hota Hai.
