Gunners Shot

The PLA Daily recently declared that China can do with less than 5% GDP Growth and that China needs to abandon ‘Worship of Speed’. Superficially it appears as if the CCP is preparing the Chinese people to accept lower growth rates. However the problem is deeper. This is the beginning of the official decline of China. An acknowledgement that CCP cannot achieve growth rates is serious. It also follows a typical and well established Chinese pattern akin to its salami slicing tactics. Stage1- Deny the problem/decline. Stage 2- State that the problem is trivial, manageable and not of consequence (with lot of accompanying propaganda). Stage 3- Get overwhelmed by the problem since they do not have solutions for it and embark on a new diversionary venture. Property and population declines are in Stage 3. PLA and economy declines are in Stage 2. Overall the PRC is now clearly in Stage 1. The problem is that all of us have been brainwashed to believe the Chinese and we miss the apparent signs of decline.

PS- This is not a comparison between India and China. This is an assessment of China which is our long term adversary. We must know how to deal with our declining neighbour.
