This interaction with Lt Gen D P Pandey was at a different level. He outlines the fundamental causes for Kashmir’s search for an elusive peace. The sum total is that peace in Kashmir is an outcome of what the people want. Further what the people in Kashmir want has to be in a frame of realism and not in the box of contradictory narratives. It is up to the people lay out their own narratives and believe in it or otherwise. In my opinion, they are trapped in their own aspirations which are often contradictory and work at cross purposes to the detriment of Kashmiris.
