Armies are meant to fight wars to achieve political objectives of a state. Maj Gen Rajiv Narayanan and I examined the PLA from this perspective. It emerges that the PLA though involved in many conflicts , shies away from fighting when the penny drops. The theories of war which its had propagated to present itself as a modern Armed Forces have crumbled on the battle fields of Ukraine and Gaza. On ground , it has fallen short of achieving any stated or hidden political objective of China anywhere in the world.
