This discussion on Maldives with a knowledgeable panel was enlightening. Everyone came out with his own and unique perspective. At the end it was very clear that India’s neighbourhood first policy is simply not working and needs a lot of introspection. We need to exercise smart power vs China’s sharp power. An iron fist in a velvet glove approach needs to be adopted. However, not everything is lost in Maldives and things can be retrieved. We just need to knuckle down.
